Boy Story to Launch Kickstarter in Spring 2016!
The much anticipated Boy Story Kickstarter launch is finally set for Spring 2016! Boy Story, a company composed of two sisters, has developed a fresh new line of cool, posable 18" boy dolls. Boy Story dolls aren't just any old doll, they're !
Action Dolls are the first 18” vinyl & plush boy dolls with an action figure twist designed especially with boys in mind. Boy Story's Action Dolls are made to rumble and tumble. Their vinyl parts are easily wiped clean when they inevitably get dirty. And their plush bodies are made of durable cotton twill to withstand the biggest of hugs and the toughest of play. Each character has unique sculpted hair, designed and detailed in the USA, making cleaning even more simple and ultimately making the dolls much more durable than a standard wigged doll. We want kids to PLAY and be free to take these dolls on all their adventures.
So where's the Action part of the doll? Each Action Doll has 11 points of articulation. 7 of these joints are ball joints, uniquely designed to hold poses just like your favorite action figure. In addition to their ultra-posability, Action Dolls have realistic facial features and are designed to be same-age companions of the children who will play with them. Just as with the many girl dolls on the market, same-age boy dolls allow kids to play imagined roles both of a parent or nurturer playing house or a friend going on an adventure.
Action Dolls are designed to fit standard 18” doll clothes and accessories. This way, the dolls can easily join alongside other standard dolls, going for a ride in their cars or cooking in their doll kitchens. Girls will love our Action Dolls as the perfect companion that’s been missing from their collection the whole time.
Each diverse Action Doll has an accompanying illustrated chapter book that shares important life lessons and sets a background story for each character. The bright illustrations are aimed to get the imagination going and light up smiles. The books encourage not only reading, but some serious playtime!
Boy Story is all about play and fun, and letting kids be kids. "I searched so hard to find something cool for my boys, but something that was realistic, that they could love and cherish. There was nothing out there. It was so frustrating. I bought an overpriced doll from Europe that looked like it was wearing makeup. I bought a baby doll (which has actually been a big hit). I bought a plush doll. But why weren't there any quality vinyl dolls for boys?" questioned founder, mom, and lawyer Kristen Jarvis Johnson while pregnant with her second son. "As the mom of two boys, I was absolutely shocked when I really started digging into the doll market. So many people are looking for boy dolls, but they just don't exist. Until now."
Boy Story believes that all children should be given equal opportunity to learn and develop, and much of that learning comes from pretend play. Playing with dolls helps children to develop compassion, learn to be nurturers, caretakers, grow social skills, and even builds fine motor skills to name a few.
"I'm so excited to be a part of the change we're seeing worldwide to encourage kids to develop well-rounded skills," said Kristen. But she couldn't do it alone. As a full-time lawyer and mom, Kristen had her hands full when she came up with the idea for the launch. That's where her sister jumped in. Katie Jarvis, a designer and visionary, was so excited about the concept that she agreed instantly to help. Putting her all on the line, she quit her job to form Boy Story and hasn't looked back sense. "I'm so excited for Boy Story and our Kickstarter campaign. There's just so much to do, but we'll get it done," Katie commented. She's excited and nervous about what the future will hold. "It's really going to be great to meet our backers, see the product develop, and bring a much-needed and super fun toy to the market. But what I'm looking forward to most is the looks on each kids' face as he or she gets a brand new Billy or Mason doll. Those smiles are what I live for."
Those smiles are what we live for! Follow Boy Story on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for the exact, soon to be announced, Kickstarter launch date. "Change doesn't just happen, you have to work towards it. Be the change you hope to see." - Owner Katie Jarvis.
